 Product Certification
I. INTRODUCTION TO PRODUCT CERTIFICATION
1- Product certification is a procedure by which a third party gives written assurance that a product, process or service conforms to specified requirements.
2- Product certification is often required in industries and marketplaces where product failure could bring serious negative consequences to the health and safety of people, animals and property. Sometimes the consequences can be even fatal. Product certification gives product users the confidence they need to purchase certain goods. If a product is certified according to applicable national or international laws, customers know that that product will function correctly and won’t cause any harm.
3- Product Certification will help business:
- Reduce risk of delivering non-conformance product.
- Achieve cost savings from improved productivity, reduced downtime, and reduced site testing.
- Increase credibility of the product supplier.
- Attain a standardized and systematic approach to achieve a quality that is acceptable by all parties.
- Attain international recognition through a mutual recognition arrangement amongst the international accreditation bodies. |
 II. CERTIFICATION PROCESS |
 1- Application for certification: registration form should be completed and send it to GIC Vietnam enclose with documents required by specific certified product.
2- Audit process: according to selected certification system. System 5 is most widely selected includes testing and assessment of the quality system involved. Surveillance of the quality system is conducted and samples of the product may be taken from either the market or the point of production, or both, and are assessed for ongoing conformity.
3- Product samples are tested at ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratories, assessment of the production process on premise enterprises.
4- Audit report and corrective actions: The client is required to take corrective actions to eliminate detected nonconformities within a defined time.
5- Review and certification decision: The Certification Council reviews submitted audit documents to make the decisions for granting or refusing certification. The certification is valid for 3 years with the requirement of surveillance activities. |
