ISO 9001:2026 Quality Management System Internal Auditor Training

This course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to plan, conduct and report on internal audits of a quality management system (QMS), and follow up on corrective actions, using the guidance in ISO 19011:2026. Participants learn to audit using a process approach, focusing on customer requirements and QMS effectiveness while exploring the key updates in ISO 9001:2026.

Course objectives

  1. Understand the purpose, structure and key requirements of a QMS, and explore the key updates in ISO 9001:2026.
  2. Understand auditing principles, audit programme management and the steps involved in auditing management systems, following the guidance in ISO 19011:2026.
  3. Practise process-based auditing: planning, collecting evidence, documenting findings, preparing reports and following up on corrective actions.
  4. Develop communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct objective audits and contribute to QMS improvement.

  • The role of internal audits in maintaining QMS effectiveness and supporting improvement.
02QMS requirements and audit evidence
  • Context, interested parties, leadership, quality objectives, risks and opportunities.

05Conducting audits and documenting findings
  • Conducting opening meetings, interviews, observations and reviews of documents and records.
  • Collecting and verifying evidence and evaluating it against audit criteria while following the process flow.
  • Assessing QMS conformity and effectiveness, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Clearly documenting findings and nonconformities based on requirements and evidence, and addressing issues arising during the audit.
06Reporting, audit follow-up and auditor skills
  • Consolidating audit results, presenting conclusions and conducting closing meetings.
  • Preparing clear, consistent audit reports and ensuring traceability to evidence.
  • Following up on the implementation of corrective actions and verifying their effectiveness.
  • Developing communication, questioning, listening, analytical and conflict management skills.
