Overview of the ISO 9001:2026 Quality Management System

This course provides foundational knowledge of Quality Management Systems based on ISO 9001. It helps employees and workers understand the purpose of the system, its basic principles and each individual’s role in implementation, maintenance and continual improvement within their organization.

Course objectives

  • Understand the meaning of quality and the purpose of an ISO 9001 Quality Management System for organizations, businesses and customers.
  • Recognize the quality management principles, the process approach, the PDCA cycle and risk-based thinking.
  • Gain an overview of the standard’s structure and the main groups of ISO 9001 requirements in Clauses 4–10.
  • Understand individual roles and responsibilities, including how to meet work requirements, report issues and contribute to quality improvement.

    Distinguish ISO 9000 from ISO 9001 and understand the purpose, scope and benefits of a Quality Management System.

  3. Quality management principles and the process approach

    7 principles · Inputs – Outputs · Interaction

    Use an order-handling example to explore inputs, activities, outputs and coordination between departments.

  4. PDCA and risk-based thinking

    Plan · Do · Check · Act

    Apply PDCA to a late-delivery example, considering risks, opportunities, results and improvements.

  5. Main requirements of ISO 9001 and individual roles

    Standard structure · Clauses 4–10 · Individual responsibilities

    Explore the standard’s structure and relate the main requirement groups to responsibilities in everyday work.

  6. Course review and final assessment

    Key points · Scenario-based questions · Quiz

    Review the key topics and complete five knowledge and scenario-based questions. The trial version requires at least four correct answers out of five.
